MAKE IT A HANDMADE HOLIDAY
8 WAYS TO Yarn up your holidays!
For me, wrapping a gift in an extra special way is just as important as the gift itself. I love using scraps from a handmade item to adorn the present and tie the whole thing together (see what I did there?). Handmade holiday decor is one of my favorite ways to stashbust and use up bits and bobs I’ve collected throughout the year. Here are my favorite ways to yarn up your holidays!

THE DUTCHESS COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS COWL
The perfect use of a mini skein set, this cozy lightweight cowl can be worn season after season to effortlessly elevate any look. The playful houndstooth stitch adds texture and intrigue to the rows of colors that meander across the fabric and the bias shaping adds even more visual interest.
This project was inspired by all of the colorful knitwear seen year after year at the NY Sheep & Wool Festival in Rhinebeck and the cozy fall vibes at the fairgrounds. I'm always drawn to the mini skeins at any yarn event, and the various sets I've acquired have always sat untouched on my shelves - until now! This project is the perfect one-size-fits-all design to use a full set of 10 but you can use any number more than that as well!
THE CANDY DOTS THROW + THE BULKY SLOUCHY HANGING BASKETS
While I love designing garments and accessories, there is something extra cozy and satisfying when it comes to making something for the home. With the 6 new color additions to the Hue + Me palette came endless inspiration for colorwork designs, and I’m pleased to bring you these two beautiful patterns to add warm and style to your home. You can find both patterns free on the blog!
ONE PATTERN, TWO LENGTHS
These sweet little neckties are the perfect dainty accent to top off an outfit, any season of the year. Double knit with nearly invisible shaping, the smooth stockinette fabric lends an extra bit of polish and sophistication. The shorter length will wrap around the neck once while the longer one can be double wrapped.
IT’s A FAMILY AFFAIR!
The Mariner’s Cap is now available in FIVE sizes, newborn through adult XL. This has always been hands down my favorite handmade item to gift for both men and women, and I’m so excited to have finally perfected the additional sizes so it can be made for every member of the fam!
It’s such a versatile hat that I find myself wearing throughout the seasons, and if you’re not a fan of the tall NY style crown, you can always do a double fold and sport it LA style or start the crown shaping earlier to make it shorter altogether. This pattern has some serious stans (you know who you are!) and I’m just thrilled to have it reach even more people now.
THE HAYWORTH CROPPED COAT
Step out in style with this high fashion faux fur coat! With a cropped silhouette and bracelet length sleeves, you’ll be runway ready in this shaggy chic number that’s also suitable for holiday parties, date nights, or just running errands around town.
THE BEST HANDMADE GIFTS
These delightfully quick projects are a stunning addition to any home. Drape them over your favorite reading chair, the foot of the bed, or an entryway bench to add depth and coziness!
Introducing COLOR THEORY, a worsted weight, super soft 100% acrylic yarn in 18 gorgeous colors that's designed to work through all of the seasons. Since launching Hue + Me with Lion Brand in Sept 2020, the # 1 request we received was for a lighter weight yarn with a similar sophisticated mix-and-match palette. So last summer we got to work and started going through dozens of samples, ideas, iterations, and colors to create a brand new yarn.
We took extra care to be incredibly considerate and thoughtful with every choice and aspect of this yarn as we developed it to make it the absolute best for all of you. Our mission with Color Theory was to create a yarn with a year round appeal so that no matter what climate you live in, or what season it may be, you would be equipped with a beautiful yarn suitable for an endless amount of projects.
