Bramble Jumper

As soon as I got a sneak peek of Lion Brand's new Feels Like Butta yarn at the LB Blogger Bash in January, I knew it would be a new fave and definitely the yarn I'd be using for my next project. It literally does feel like butter ... or chenille ... or suede. To highlight the crazy soft hand of the yarn, my immediate choice of design was an oversized, relaxed fit, easy-to-wear pullover sweater. The Bramble Jumper is chill enough to wear around the house but also looks amazing styled up with high waisted denim, heeled boots and some jewelry. Check out the free pattern below, purchase a printer-friendly, ad-free PDF here, or snag the full yarn kit direct from Lion Brand here!

Polyester has come a long way since its heyday in the '60s and this yarn proves it! New technology with microfibers and poly blends allows polyester to take on properties of other materials yet retain its durability. I've not worked with another yarn quite like this one and I'm so excited to test it out with more designs.

Feels like Butta has a denseness to it that was just screaming to be used with an extra squishy stitch, so I chose one of my all-time favorites that I actually haven't used in a while - the "trinity stitch" (a.k.a. bramble stitch, cluster stitch, raspberry stitch, blackberry stitch, or popcorn stitch ... literally this stitch has at least six names, haha). It looks like mini bobbles or pompoms and it's probably one of the coziest stitches around!

Originally I thought a raglan sleeve would be amazing, but I was afraid of how the diagonal shaping would look with this stitch so I chose to go with a drop sleeve instead. To mimic the shape of a batwing or dolman sleeve, I decided to shape the sweater so that the body gets slightly wider as you work up to the armholes. The stitch speaks for itself, so I wanted everything else about the pullover to be as simple an understated as possible. A classic crewneck topped it off, and now this baby is ready to be paired with pretty much every outfit in my closet, including my pajamas ;)

This is an intermediate level knitting pattern and the techniques involved are the knit stitch, purl stitch, KPK, P2tog, P3tog, PFB, working flat and in the round, and seaming.
