Tea House Wrap

After the breakout success of the Coffee Shop Wrap, I knew I had to design something similar in crochet. Not everything is translatable from one skill to the other, but this simple striped top-down triangle scarf is something that I felt confident giving a go. Since the weather was starting to feel a bit crisp, I opted for a slightly snugglier yarn than the Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton and instead went with their silky soft Heartland yarn. I almost always design my crochet projects on a bigger hook than the yarn calls for because I like my pieces to be moveable and more knit-like in fabric quality. After some swatching and lots of math, the Tea House Wrap was born.

This triangle scarf will be a staple in your fall wardrobe. The Tea House Wrap is worked up loosely with a hook a couple sizes bigger than the yarn suggests to ensure a drapey, cozy wrap that can be worn over the shoulders or styled like a scarf in front. Tassels top off and dress up this trendy look that is the perfect versatile transition piece for crisp autumn days.

Tea House Wrap Pattern by Two of Wands

This is an easy level crochet pattern and the techniques involved are the magic loop method, half double crochet, and skipping stitches. Just like the Coffee Shop Wrap, this piece is delightfully repetitive with just a couple design details like uneven striping and eyelet rows to keep it interesting. So without further delay, let's get started!

To make tassels, cut ninety 12”/30.5cm lengths and six 18”/46cm lengths of color A. Divide the 12”/ 30.5cm lengths into 3 groups of 30. Tie each bundle at the middle point with one of the 18”/46cm lengths. Fold each bundle in half so that the tie is at the tip of the loop created with the fold. Tie crosswise around each folded bundle about 1⁄2”/1.25cm below top of fold with remaining 18”/ 46cm lengths. Wrap the tails of the ties around and around the bundles and then thread them inside and down the middle of the bundles with a tapestry needle. Tie the tops of the tassels onto the 3 corners of the wrap and knot to secure. Thread the tails inside and down the middle of the tassels using a tapestry needle. Trim tassels to desired length.
