Flurries in the Wind Wrap

It's that time of year already - we are just over 100 days from Christmas, and while that may seem super far away for *most* people, we crafters know that the race is now on to finish all of our handmade gifts before the big day. Once again Lion Brand Yarn has rounded up a series of patterns to celebrate their 12 Weeks of Christmas campaign. You may recall some Two of Wands designs in previous years' 12 Weeks promos such as the Cedar Hill Scarf, Rebozo Wrap, and Affirmations Scarf. This year I'm back with another meditative knit for the campaign. Introducing the Flurries in the Wind Wrap! Scroll down for the free pattern or read on to learn more about my inspiration and a peek at some of the other designs in the campaign. You can purchase a printable, ad-free PDF here or grab the kit from Lion Brand here. Hot tip: the kit is 40% during the first week with the code SAVE40SEPT (note that the code only works on the desktop version of the site).

One of my most successful patterns of 2018 was hands down the Snowfall on the Bowery Wrap. This crochet design was part of my 2018 Fall/Winter Cityscape Collection, and ever since the first day I released it I've been getting requests for a knit version. Look no further, because the Flurries in the Wind Wrap is a nearly identical sister pattern! Worked up in the same Lion Brand Wool-Ease yarn in the color Fisherman, it's an easy level cozy wrap with a series of eyelets that add intrigue and dimension.

Along with the Flurries in the Wind Wrap, you can find 11 over lovely designs in the 12 Weeks of Christmas campaign. I've included some of my favorites below, but you can check out the whole selection here. All of these kits are also eligible for the 40% limited time only discount mentioned above, as are past years' kits like the Affirmations Scarf and Cedar Hill Scarf.

Just like the crochet Snowfall on the Bowery Wrap, the knit Flurries in the Wind Wrap is inspired by blustery snowfall under a streetlamp on a winter’s night. This blanket wrap will keep you snug and comforted at home or protected from the chill if you decide to venture out into the night, and it can be worn wrapped around the shoulders or bunched up around the neck like a scarf.

The lightweight nature of wool-ease coupled with a larger-than-suggested needle (my usual M.O.) makes this a light layer that could almost double as a blanket. It's a wardrobe staple for both fall and winter and makes an excellent gift for someone special. Just make sure you get enough yarn for at least two of these babies, because if you're making it as a present, I can promise you'll want one for yourself; and the second someone sees you in it, they'll be begging you to make them one as well!

This is an easy level knitting pattern, and the techniques involved are the knit and purl stitches, yarn over and double yarn over increases, k2tog and ssk single decreases, and the s2kp centered double decrease.
