Mystic Morning Wrap

As soon as I heard about Lion Brand's new Touch of Alpaca yarn I envisioned an oversized triangle scarf wrap to envelope myself. I've been wanting to do a new take on the Tea House Wrap that used Heartland yarn since one of the colors has now been discontinued, so I figured this would be the perfect opportunity. Purchase an ad-free printable version of the pattern here or continue below to the free instructions. You can purchase the full yarn kit from Lion Brand here.

Mystic Morning Wrap Pattern by Two of Wands

I actually hadn't named this piece until after I shot the photos of it as I was toying with a few options and none of them seemed just right. The photos were taken along the cliffs of El Matador Beach in Malibu and it was a chilly, breezy morning that provided the perfect backdrop for this hug of a wrap. As the ocean spray continued to creep up and sprinkle us the name just hit me! The Mystic Morning Wrap is light and airy and drapey and provides the perfect amount of warmth for a cold morning or evening.

I wanted to showcase a variety of neutrals since this yarn has so many wonderful earthy colorways, so I chose a striped pattern to let them all shine. The weather here in LA is still quite warm and I wanted to be able to wear this beauty as soon as possible so I decided to incorporate lots of eyelet rows to open up the fabric and make it a little more airy. The final detail was of course adding tassels ... because how can you have a triangle wrap without them!?

This is an easy level crochet pattern and the techniques involved are the magic loop, double crochet, chaining and skipping stitches, and working into chain spaces.

Tassels:

Cut ninety 12”/30.5cm lengths and six 18”/46cm lengths of color D. Divide the 12”/ 30.5cm lengths into 3 groups of 30. Tie each bundle at the middle point with one of the 18”/46cm lengths. Fold each bundle in half so that the tie is at the tip of the loop created with the fold. Tie crosswise around each folded bundle about 1⁄2”/1.25cm below top of fold with remaining 18”/ 46cm lengths. Wrap the tails of the ties around and around the bundles and then thread them inside and down the middle of the bundles with a tapestry needle. Tie the tops of the tassels onto the 3 corners of the wrap and knot to secure. Thread the tails inside and down the middle of the tassels using a tapestry needle. Trim tassels to desired length.
